Bienvenidos a Mariana Vicente: A life w/out mofongo/ Welcome to Mariana Vicente: A life w/out mofongo

Warning: We guarantee you will understand the connection between the word “mofongo” in the title and the fact that this is a blog. But, only if you start by the beginning:

Mofongo. What is mofongo? It’s a traditional Puerto Rican dish made from green plantain. The plantain is fried and then mashed to create the perfect consistency so that it can be molded in different shapes. You can have mofongo as an appetizer, as a side dish, as a main course stuffed with seafood, chicken and/or meat, and as a dessert only if you’re weird. You can even stuff your Thanksgiving turkey with mofongo! Yes, it tastes that good!

I know you’re asking yourself: Still, what does mofongo have to do with your life, or this blog? Well, I decided to represent my culture with mofongo. It’s able to adapt to different environments and situations while keeping its bold, distinctive flavor. A month ago I moved to Los Angeles, CA. Accompany me during this new phase of my life where I get ready to live a life without mofongo.

  8. Mariana:
